Taxes = Less Fun Than Advertised

I don't get it, when I was a kid, all I wanted was to be a grownup.  Now I'm playing grownup and I have to pay taxes!!  When did this garbage start?!  I'm tired of adulting now, can I get a do-over?

Now I see why my dad was always so crabby in April.  Well at least he had me for a deduction back then.  I always knew I was good for something!


But I digress.... this post is really for the Bookkeepers, CPAs, accountants & other people who handle our taxes for us.  Look peeps, you can't handle long nights & early mornings without recharging.  The staff of Curve Cafe are masters of catering.

Jelly Bean Pancakes in April!

April is bringing a sweet treat for our pancake variety!

Come in any day in April for our Jelly Bean Pancakes.

They're two fluffy pancakes with jelly beans cooked right in to them, then topped with whipped cream & sprinkles.  Very, very tasty!!

They're available any day (including weekends) in April.  We'll even have them after the Easter Bunny passes through.

1.   Sample (please design your own question) - I’m looking at having a reception for 200 people on October _____ of this year.  (In a location to be determined).  We’re looking at doing (sample meal) bar-b-q, baked beans, cole slaw, you know, a traditional bar-b-q meal.  We’ll also need drinks and dessert.  What packages do you have?  Prices?

2.      What all is included?  What are my choices for a 2nd entree?  Prices?
  
3.     Is the meat served in pans or chopped fresh at the event?
  
4.      What kind of table clothes are included?

5.     How many people come out and serve?
  
6.     Is the food all you can eat or a pre-set amount?

I've banished Winter, saith the Spring

Some poet wrote that and I like it.  And with the banishment of Winter cometh our March features.  Our culinary experts have outdone themselves.

The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict is a monster of a meal, but look at all that you get.  A classic Eggs Benedict with a twist.  We build on a split English muffin and two crab cakes! Then we top it all with 2 poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.  Served with our fresh hand-cut American fries


Since it is the month of St. Patrick's Day, we conducted a very thorough, data-centric survey and are happy to present the results.  It was unanimous.  
The local union shop, leprechauns 142, all agreed that our Mint Chip Pancakes are the official pancake of St. Patrick's Day, and we're very proud of it.  Two large fluffy green pancakes with Mint Chips cooked right in and topped with whipped cream


Now that you know some of our new features for March, what are you waiting for.  C'mon in.  As the ads always say: limited time only, featured for a short time, get 'em while you can, supplies are (not) limited, and we can't do this offer forever.  March may have come in like a pancake, but when it leaves, it's taking these tantalizing features with it.

We Certify Other Restaurants In Food Safety Training

Curve Cafe (in conjunction with Between the Buns) has been certifying other restaurateurs in food safety for over a decade now, since certain laws were put in to effect.

Our next class date has just been announced. 


We always do classes on Mondays because, well, we run restaurants too, and understand it is usually the best day for most to break away for the class.

We wrap up the whole class & exam in one intense, but informative day.  You'll learn a lot over the course of the day, I promise you that.  Our instructor is himself an ex-board-of-health inspector with tons of experience and a sharp eye for food safety detail.

Our one day training includes everything - The class is designed to cover the materials needed to pass the exam in the afternoon.  Exam & class are on the same day. Lunch and beverages are included.

Weekend Feb 4 & 5

You should definitely check out the weekend features for Feb 4 & 5 at Curve Cafe.  This one alone is amazing!


This is the first time we've rolled this one out.  We're fairly impressed.  You should really come try it out yourself!   

Loaded Stacker – This is certainly loaded!  We start off this Stacker with your choice of ham, sausage, or bacon.  Then add fresh, hand-cut American fries with green & red pepper, onions and mushrooms all mixed into the potatoes.  It’s topped with sausage gravy, two eggs your way & shredded cheddar cheese. Incl. your choice of toast.

Breakfast Pork Cutlet – A fresh cut pork cutlet from DC Meats, hand-breaded and fried to order.  It’s smothered in our fresh, homemade sausage gravy and served with 2 eggs, American fries and choice of toast.

Not so long ago, in a cafe not far away.....

Not so long ago, in a cafe not far away.....about 5½ years ago (give or take a few months) Curve Cafe was born in Mishawaka, IN.

We started with a simple concept.  Make a great breakfast and get it to those who come in with great service.  Easy, right?

When you do it like this, it becomes pretty easy.
  • Fresh corned beef hash
  • Fresh biscuits
  • Homemade sausage gravy
  • Home baked cinnamon rolls
  • Fresh Angus steakburgers
  • Farm fresh, hand-cracked eggs
  • A willingness to substitute with egg whites or cholesterol free eggs at NO EXTRA CHARGE
  • Extra plates may be requested as needed at NO EXTRA CHARGE
  • A Stuffed Cinnamon Roll unlike anything you've ever tried
  • ... and that was just the start!
Then, after all that, just treat everyone like family.  It's not that hard.

Since then, the menu hasn't changed much.  We've stayed loyal to our 'fresh' and our 'homemade' items (that's why they're so darned good!)  We've added a few things here and there, but there are three things that have become favorites....

  • Free Coffee for seniors (with any purchase)  [or soft drink]  {no, I'm not kidding}
  • The creation of the monthly $2.99 special (Mon-Fri 'til 2:00).  Every month a different one.
  • Staying open on Friday nights with a special dinner menu that includes most of your breakfast favorites.  Isn't breakfast for dinner fun?!?!

And now, this blog has begun.  The crazed writings of a restaurateur stuck behind a desk and supporting Curve Cafe.  Over time, here you'll read our specials, some behind the scenes things, wild things found on the internet about restaurants and catering.

Oh, did I mention our catering?  Yes, we cater.  And quite well too.  We cater so well, that we have clients that I'm not even allowed to mention, because they have such a high profile.  Yes, we're that good.
